COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Research

This course presents an examination of the components of legal research and writing techniques,

covering case citation, use of indexes, case law and statutory law. Traditional forms of research

as well as computer aided research will be utilized. Students will practice retrieving legal

sources, analyzing facts and law, and organizing answers effectively. Various legal documents

will be introduced. Students are also given a brief summary of the basic components of

managerial responsibility, effective planning and uses of financial resources.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, the student should be competent in:

  • Letter writing

  • Contract drafting

  • General document drafting

  • Structure style layout and content

  • Inter-active writing

  • Brevity and conciseness and accuracy

  • Grammar

  • Practical language of contract information

  • Legal vocabulary

  • Glossary with definitions
