PRINCIPLES OF ACCOUNTING I

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course of study is concerned with an introduction to the concepts and uses of financial
information, the preparation of financial statements, analysis of the effect of transactions on the
financial position of a company and the study of ethics in business situations.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
On the successful completion of this course the student will demonstrate the ability to:

Describe the characteristics of partnerships and corporations

Account for transactions in the long term liability section of a corporation’s balance sheet

Account for equity transactions of corporations

Prepare the statement of cash flows for a corporation

Analyze corporate financial statements

Distinguish between financial and management accounting
