BGCSE

BGCSE ENGLISH

 

There are three compulsory courses in the BGCSE Examinations, one of which is English Language. The aim of the BGCSE English course is to develop the Students’ English knowledge, together with their oral, written and practical skills.

The BGCSE Examination is the National Examination of the Bahamas which is offered by the Ministry of Education and accredited by the Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. It is internationally recognized. The completion of the BGCSE is verification that a student has attained the level required to be accepted at a college or an institution of higher education in a

particular subject area.

Areas of study are as follows:

Sentence, paragraph and essay writing Vocabulary, aural and comprehension skills analyzing data.

During the Course at Institute of Business and Commerce the students are expected to reflect in some depth, analyze experiences and write in a clear and articulate fashion. In order to properly complete the syllabus, it is necessary for students to register for at least three terms.

Three examination papers are offered: papers 1 and 2 constitute the core of the examination and are graded from C to G. Paper 3 completes the extended examination, and is graded from A to G. Examinations are scheduled from mid-May to mid-June of each year and the results of these examinations are available in mid-August.

Special sessions are offered at IBC for mature students who wish to study for the BGCSE Examinations or who wish to take a refreshers course in English Language. Sessions are also offered for mature students who, for various reasons did not accomplish their various educational goals.

BGCSE MATH

The aim of the BGCSE Math course is to develop the students mathematical knowledge, together with their oral, written and practical skills. The BGCSE Examination is the National Examination of the Bahamas which is offered by the Ministry of Education and accredited by the Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. It is internationally recognized. The completion of the BGCSE is verification that a student has attained the level required to be accepted at a

college or an institution of higher education in a particular subject area.

 

During the Course at Institute of Business and Commerce the student will write and discuss mathematical problems which will include fractions, directed numbers, sets, ratio and proportions, percentages, graphs and indices. In addition, the course will include Algebra, symmetry, Geometry, angles, trigonometry, statistics, probability matrices and transformation.

 

In order to properly complete the syllabus, it is necessary for students to register for at least three terms.
